Strategic Partnership

Strategic Partnership

The University of Zurich and the University of Geneva signed a strategic partnership agreement first in December 2017. This new partnership joins the two largest universities in the German- and French-speaking parts of Switzerland that already maintain close relationships in research, student exchange and the executive boards. The strategic partnerships aims to formalize and deepen these ties with a number of jointly funded programs, including Seed Funding grants for research, student and staff mobility, joint summer schools and public events. Find out more about the large range of activities on the partnership's separate website.

Joint Seed Funding

In Spring 2018, a joint fund was set up to provide seed money for research projects carried out on a joint basis. Two such annual calls for proposals were issued in 2018 and 2019 with some 30 funded projects.

From 2020 onwards, available funds are divided into several schemes and awarded on a competitive basis, including funds for joint summer schools, student exchange and joint public events. On this platform, you will find information regarding the following schemes:

Rolling calls (submissions throughout the year)

1) Joint Seed Funding for collaboration in research and teaching: max. CHF 8'000 per project
2) Exchange Grant for young researchers: max. CHF 8'000 per exchange
3) Staff Exchange (for administration and technical personnel): max. CHF 1'000 per exchange
4) Staff Joint Projects (by administrative and technical personnel): max. CHF 5'000 per project

One annual call for projects of up to CHF 60'000, possibly prioritizing strategic key topics that will be announced at the launch of the call.

All calls for proposals are open to all disciplines and subjects.
